Thoughts and Reflections from Students at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon

Find out how students at Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, view the world and about the school activities that excite them!

The Early Years Sports Day at Lancers International School, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, was held on Thursday, 9th of February. It was such a wonderful event and the young Lancerians were all geared up for the races.

Parents and students were informed about the concept of good sportsmanship on the field. We may define good sportsmanship as the “golden rule” of sports — in other words, treating the people you play with and against as you’d like to be treated yourself.

Showing respect for yourself, your teammates, and your opponents, for the coaches, for the referees, judges, and other officials. Parents can also promote good sportsmanship, as it can have a positive influence on everyone around you.

Our Head of School, Mr. Sindhwani declared the Sports Day Meet open after which we had the March past where the students displayed the Principled Learner profile attribute as they marched across the field so proudly in their respective houses.

The event itself was an exciting one, where it was wonderful to see the students perform so well and great to see parents there to support and cheer on their young ones.

First, we had the Start-Up students participating in various races, followed by Nursery students and then the Kindergarten students. Races included 10 – 50-meter sprints, Frog Jump, Obstacle Courses, Hoop and Ball Run, Spoon and Lemon Race and Relay.

Even the parents tried their hand at the races which were indeed motivating. Overall, the event at Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, proved successful and reflected good sportsmanship.

The Forgotten People of India, an Analysis by a Student at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon

Shares a student from Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, “India is home to a variety of different communities and cultures. Some of them are very well known to our society, but some are just known by a few handfuls of people.

Some of these people, not just existed, but made a huge impact on society. The Jewish community in India was one that was thriving during the early to mid-1900s. Since Jews were all traders, they have since then, ventured to places like Singapore, Hong Kong, and Jakarta.

But many of these people gave up their jobs and their comfortable lives in countries like India, to flock to the newly formed Israel, to live in tents in the hope of a Jewish nation.

In places like Kolkata, many of the landmarks are considered to have been built by the British but were actually built by the Jews. Despite their low numbers, they still have three Synagogues, three schools, and a cemetery in the city. If they all were to finally leave the city, it would be the city’s loss.

Little do people know that the Jews not only have built many historical monuments in the country but were also a part of our culture in a different way as well.

Even though the community was just around 5000, several of India’s

Beauty Pageant winners and actors were Jewish. There were people like Esther Abrahams, who was the first Miss India in 1947. Or when India was developing its thriving film industry, Indian Jews had a major role. Take David Pender as an example. He wrote India’s first “talkie” in 1931.

As you see, we need to preserve these different cultures and communities before they vanish from India forever. Just like the few remaining Jews, there are also hundreds and thousands of communities slowly perishing and on the verge of being forgotten.”
