Shares a student at Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, about Senior School Sports Day for students at Lancers, one of the top international schools in Gurgaon, “‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’.

On sports day, all the houses- Faith, Virtue, Truth, and Peace-competed against each other to win the trophy. All the participants competed in different sports activities, which included sprints, hurdles, tug of war, etc. This year was really special because one of the events was the 800m marathon! The chief guest for this year was Ms. Lalage Prabhu.
The winning house was Virtue house and the winner for the march-past was Faith house. Even though Virtue was the winning house, all the houses participated with good sportsmanship.”

The PYP student leadership council through a chance discovery of ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week’ got so intrigued by the idea that they wanted to organize the celebrations in Lancers International School, one of the best schools in Gurgaon.

For the uninitiated, the world observes ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week’ every year between 12th and 18th February. It is an annual opportunity to unite through kindness. Formally recognized in 1995, this seven- day celebration demonstrates that kindness is contagious.

It all starts with one act-one smile, one coffee for a stranger, one favor for a friend. It enables people to inspire each other to spread the message of kindness through small acts.

The PYP Student Council is proud to have spearheaded the celebration this year in the PYP wing. The following activities were organized by the student council:

Team 1: Kindness Tree (The bare tree bloomed with kindness acts posted by visiting children and staff).

Team 2: Appreciation for the support staff in school (Leadership council collected items
such as clothes, sweets, and cash and individually gift wrapped the items to give away to the female support staff in school).

Team 3: Kindness Club (Actively enlisted volunteers who have become lifelong members of the kindness club and raised a little over Rs. 3000 through bake sales to give away to a charity foundation).

Team 4: Third party compliment box (Students and teachers took some time out to write a compliment for a friend and chosen few were videotaped to capture their priceless reaction).

Special mention goes to the four house captains – Nitya Chauhan (Faith House), Misaki Tomiyama (Virtue House), Dev Sharma (Peace House) and Nanami Hatakeyama (Truth House) who led their teams and put in extra hours of dedicated effort to make this event a success. We received a lot of support and appreciation from the PYP parents as well.

Upcoming events from the Student Leadership Council:

  1. Student Council Assembly on Leadership
  2. Book Swap Day
  3. School spirit days

Anchored wonderfully by Grade 9 students at Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, Raaid, and Anubhav, the Able Club assembly was a welcome break for the exam-weary students, last December. Seulbin Cho, the nightingale of our school, opened the assembly with the melodious and renowned Christmas song: White Christmas.

The students Archita Goyal and Kovida Chhikara from the Editorial Club at Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, enlightened us with their presentation on “Winter Festivals” throughout the world, while Aditya Veer Singh and Shayar Joshi recited classical Christmas poems with confidence.

For weeks the Drama Club students rehearsed with Ms. Bandana for the classic Christmas story, “A St. John Christmas Carol”.

They overwhelmed the audience with their skillful and dramatic performance on the stage. Everyone would agree that Kshaunish Naidu has broadened our understanding of the “Chinese New Year” with his great presentation. Suryavansh and Vishal involved the audience in a challenging “Christmas Quiz on Festival seasons” and shared chocolates as a return for the right answer. The last two performances from the Dance Club have added to the wonderful assembly with the “Desert Dance” and the “Salsa and Hip Hop Dance Routine”. Ms. Olga, the Able Club Coordinator, closed the assembly with her vote of thanks.
